The Gift of Dance

Planning Your Event

Our Wedding Coordinator: Linda Goethche

You will spend your first handful of lessons with your instructor, learning the fundamentals of ballroom dance. During these lessons, your instructor will introduce you to the most popular social dances and analyze your dancing in order to build a tailor-made program for you and your special event. Once you are more comfortable with the steps and the patterns, your instructor will bring Linda onto a lesson to discuss your options for your wedding dance. There are so many different options available for your first dance!

An award winning dancer in her own career, Linda has an eye for beauty and dramatic flair. Whether you are looking for something intimate and romantic for your first dance as husband and wife, or you are seeking a show stopping stunner to wow your guests, Linda has the expertise and experience to help you and your instructor design the perfect program for you!

"I am so pleased to be able to offer such a special service to the couples that come to Fred Astaire…your first dance is something that you never forget, and we are so proud to be a part of so many wonderful moments!" ~Linda

Here are a couple of tips from Linda!

  • Don't wait until the last minute! I truly recommend starting 4-6 months prior to your wedding to allow more time for practice.
  • If you already have a song chosen, bring it with you for your first lesson.
  • Be patient when learning. Dancing is a great stress reliever and a fun date night, so don't put too much pressure on each other.
  • Don't try to teach your fiancé. You'll both have a lot more fun dancing if you let your instructor do the teaching.
  • Practice in the right shoes. We recommend that you wear ballroom dance shoes, as they are the best suited to dancing. We have a full dance store with a wide variety of dance shoes available if you are interested in purchasing dance shoes. If you would prefer, you may also wear shoes to your lessons that are similar to the ones you'll be wearing on the big day.
  • Be consistent with your appointments. The more often you come in, the less review there will be on each lesson. Plan at least twice a week to get the most from your lessons.
  • Use the classes and parties whenever possible. While most of your learning will take place during private lessons, classes and parties are more representative to what the reception will be like, and your teachers are
